Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to people on the nation on the occasion of Milad-Un-Nabi. Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister hoped there is compassion and brotherhood all around. "Best wishes on Milad-un-Nabi. Hope this day furthers compassion and brotherhood all across. May everybody be healthy & happy. Eid Mubarak!", the Prime Minister tweeted.
When is Eid Milad-un Nabi celebrated?
The festival is observed in the holy month of Rabi’ al-awwal, Eid-e-Milad is celebrated by people with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Eid-e-Milad varies between the two branches of Islam-Sunnies and Shia Muslims. For Sunnis, the day is said to fall on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar called Rabi’ al-aawal. But Shias believe that Prophet Muhammad was actually born on the 17th day of the month.
The day is a reminder for people to place their faith in Allah and keep doing good deeds with compassion and kindness.
