The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Trinamool Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra for questioning in a FEMA contravention case on March 11, news agency PTI reported citing official sources on Monday. According to the PTI sources, Moitra, 49, had requested a few weeks' time to join the investigation and had conveyed her inability to depose before the agency last month. However, she has now been asked to appear at the ED office in Delhi on March 11.

The federal probe agency aims to question Moitra and record her statement under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) once she deposes. Transactions linked to a non-resident external (NRE) account are under scrutiny, along with a few other foreign remittances and fund transfers, sources told PTI.

Moitra is also under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is conducting a preliminary inquiry into allegations against her. The inquiry was initiated based on a reference from the Lokpal after Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused the former parliamentarian of asking questions in Lok Sabha to target the Adani group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for gifts. He had also alleged that Moitra compromised national security for monetary gains.

In response to these allegations, Moitra has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that she is being targeted for raising questions on the deals of the Adani group.
