New Delhi: In a major boost to ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ and strengthening the Indian Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully flight tested the indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM).
“In a major boost to #AtmaNirbharBharat and strengthening Indian Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) today 21st July 2021,” the DRDO posted on Twitter.

The missile was launched from a man-portable launcher integrated with a thermal site and the target was mimicking a tank.
The missile, which is incorporated with state-of-the-art Miniaturized Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics, hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision.
“The test has validated the minimum range successfully. All the mission objectives were met. The missile has already been successfully flight-tested for the maximum range,” the Ministry of Defence said in a release.
The Ministry of Defence added the “test brings the development of indigenous third-generation man-portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile close to completion”.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO for the successful test. DRDO chairman Dr G. Satheesh Reddy also congratulated the team for the successful test.
