Bihar: Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janta Party leader Suhil Kumar Modi has distanced himself from Rs780 crore Srijan scam accused Rekha Modi, who happens to be his ‘sister’.

Sushil Modi gave a clarification on Friday stating that Rekha is his distant relative (cousin sister); but he doesn’t have any financial or professional relationship with her; and that he hasn’t met her in last 10 years. He also asserted that he has got nothing to do with her.

The Minister has also revealed that the scam accused has other 10 cases running against her and that she once also dragged Modi in one of the cases by accusing him.

What is Srijan scam:

The multi-crore Srijan scam case involves an NGO who allegedly pilfered funds meant for government welfare schemes.

According to the police officials, Rekha Modi is accused of purchasing huge jewellery gifts from the kingpin of multi-crore Srijan scam that is being probed by the CBI.

Rekha Modi

The Srijan scam came to light in August 2017 after which Central Bureau of Investigation began its probe.

The mastermind of the scam Manorama Devi has passed away.

Rekha Modi has been involved in several cases, of which one if the case is pertaining to tearing off the uniform of a female constable; post which she had to spend 1 week in prison.

Several questions were being raised by opposition against deputy chief minister of Bihar, but now he has cleared the air by distancing himself from the accused Rekha Modi.

Tejashwi takes on Sushil Modi:

Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the leader of the Opposition in Bihar assembly, has unleashed his attack on Modi saying he is the main architect of the scam.

"After my revelations in the Srijan scam, the house of Sushil Modi's sister was raided by the I-T department to save Sushil Modi, who was the real culprit. During his tenure as Bihar finance minster, Rs. 2,500 crore was looted from the financial budget," Tejashwi said in a tweet.

"Modi, from the account of the Srjan NGO, had transferred crores to his sister's account," he added.

Terming the raids as "eyewash", Tejashwi, former Bihar deputy chief minister, said to cover up Modi's involvement in the scam searches were conducted at his cousin's residence.
