A thick layer of fog prevailed in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai on Friday. The weather phenomenon, attributed to the prevailing northeast winds over the sea, has already caused significant disruptions in daily life, particularly in the early morning hours, as per a report on Live Chennai.

The dense fog has severely impacted visibility in several parts of the state, including Chennai, Coimbatore and Chidambaram. In Chidambaram town, visibility dropped to near zero, disrupting normal life and affecting road transportation. Similarly, the fog has caused delays in train services. Additionally, flight operations at certain airports were affected, with some flights experiencing delays.

Independent weather blogger Pradeep John, known as Tamil Nadu Weatherman, also predicted that the fog would persist on Friday morning in northern Tamil Nadu, including Chennai. The fog is also due to the varying temperature between land and sea, which causes mositure condensation, as reported by News 9 Live.

As the week progresses, residents of Tamil Nadu, particularly in Chennai and surrounding regions, are bracing for continued foggy mornings and cooler temperatures.

Meanwhile, the cold weather and foggy conditions have brought some respite from the usual heat but have also posed challenges for commuters and daily wage workers who rely on early morning travel. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) is closely monitoring the situation.
