New Delhi: As the number of covid-19 cases spike in Delhi, the city recorded 1,607 new cases on Saturday with two fatalities, as per the data shared by health authorities. This takes the overall caseload of the national capital to 18,81,555. The total death toll reached 26,174 with these two new fatalities. 


As per the data, the covid fatality rate in the national capital stands at 1.39 percent currently. 


With a positivity rate of 5.28 percent, the number of active cases has surged to 5,609. Meanwhile, with the recovery of 1,246 patients in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered patients has reached 18,49,772. 


However, despite the rise in the number of cases, hospitalisation still remains low in the city with home isolation rising to 3,863. 


As per the data provided by the health authorities, the city currently has 632 containment zones. 


In the last 24 hours, 30,459 new tests were conducted of which 19,353 were RT-PCR and 11,106 were Rapid Antigen tests. The total has reached 3,78,24,805.


At least 60,287 vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours in the national capital of which 8,127 were the first dose, 28,315 were second, and 23,845 were the precaution dose.


The Delhi government began administering the precaution dose to those aged above 18 years at all private facilities this month in view of the increasing number of cases.


Earlier this month, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority also brought back the mask mandate in public places.
