While the entire region grappled with water-logging problems after the rains, the most shocking images were from Delhi’s Minto road where due to high amount of water-logging under the Minto Bridge some buses got submerged. The passengers who were present inside the buses were safely evacuated.
Torrential rains have hit different parts of the North Capital Region following heavy overcast conditions that had plunged the city into near darkness during the afternoon hours, prompting vehicles to ply with headlights on. The rains wrecked havoc in the city as commuters faced a hard time navigating through waterlogged roads and faced traffic congestion.
There was heavy waterlogging under Tilak Bridge, Modi Mill Flyover, Dhaula Kuan flyover and near Welcome Metro station.
Commuters faced problems at Zakhira Flyover Kamal T-Point, Anand Parbat, Y-Point Old Railway bridge Kishan Ganj, Azad Market and near Old Iron Bridge Dharmpura.
Even government buildings and VIP places were also not spared. Water gushed inside the building of Delhi secretariat which houses Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office.
Daily activities were affected in areas of Malviya Nagar, Dhaula Kuan and Jantar Mantar as these places witnessed massive water impoundment.
According to a Meteorological department official, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average. According to the MeT department, the humidity level recorded at 8.30 am was 74 per cent. The weatherman has predicted more rains in various parts of the national capital. "The maximum temperature is expected to settle at around 34 degrees Celsius," the MeT department official said. The minimum temperature yesterday was 28.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 37.8 degrees Celsius.
