New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is taking a new initiative for the convenience of passengers. Now, they will be able to travel using QR tickets, account-based tickets, and near field communication (NFC).


DMRC has signed a contract with a consortium in its network to upgrade a complete automatic fare collection and execute the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).

Metro travel will be easier with mobile QR and NFC-based tickets.


DMRC Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal said, "With the implementation of NCMC and QR tickets, travel by metro rail and other transport systems across the country will be seamless. He said that with mobile QR and NFC-based tickets, commuters will also be able to use their mobile phones to enter or exit the metro station in their corridors". At present, NCMC and QR code-based ticket facilities are available at the stations of the Airport Express Line between New Delhi and Dwarka Sector 21.


With the NCMC and QR tickets, passengers will also be able to do retail shopping.


It is worth mentioning that after the contract for AFC Gate, metro passengers will get a chance to travel through QR tickets, account-based tickets, Near Field Communication (NFC). Due to this, Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg, Majlis Park-Maujpur, and Tughlakabad-Aerocity will work under Phase 4. NCMC and QR-based tickets will enable passengers seamless travel by metro rails and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping and purchases.


Cashless activities will be promoted in the country.


DMRC Managing Director Dr Mangu Singh has said that QR tickets, account-based tickets and NFC will promote cashless activities in the country. Passengers will no longer have to buy tickets or cards for different journeys.
