AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan got relief from arrest on Thursday after Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on granted protection to from any coercive action till February 24.

However, Special judge Jitendra Singh has ordered Khan to join probe in the case whenever directed by the investigating officer. The Delhi court has also asked the police to interrogate him under CCTV surveillance.

The court also directed Delhi police to bring all the documents aside from any CCTV footage related to the incident before the court on February 24.

This comes as Khan moved a Delhi court on Thursday seeking anticipatory bail in the case where he is accused of leading an attack on a police team in the Jamia Nagar on February 10.

Later the AAP MLA issued a statement and said that he will join the police probe at 5 PM. He also questioned why the police would arrest him and rejected claims that he had fled.

"I will join the police investigation today at 5 PM. I travel by scooter, so I will go. Everyone knows what the police do. Yesterday, I joined the CBI court. How am I running away? The police have given me a notice for investigation until 5 PM today. If they have given me a notice, how can they arrest me? If I don’t go, then they can take action against me. Where is the police searching for me? I was at home only," he said.

An FIR was registered against AAP's Okhla MLA by the Delhi Police for allegedly leading an attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar on Monday. The police said the Amanatulla Khan-led mob helped a proclaimed offender Shabaz Khan, an accused in an attempt-to-murder case, escape from custody.

Khan had filed the application before Special Judge Jitendra Singh seeking protection from arrest before joining the investigation. He claimed that the allegations levelled against him are false.
