In a notice issued on Monday, July 27, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in the exercise of powers conferred under section 22 of Disaster Management Act announced that the street vendors, hawkers will be allowed to function 10 am to 8 pm daily, initially for a period of one week, in NCT of Delhi, except in the containment zones, subject to compliance of all instructions and guidelines issued by the government of India to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The mandatory measures and rules to be followed include covering face with a face-mask, maintaining social distancing, hygiene practice and more. The notice, however, stated that the weekly bazaars in NCT of Delhi are not permitted to function till further order.
As per the latest development announced the authorities, those street vendors who fall under the Special Surveillance Groups (SSGs) shall be screened and covered as per the modified SoP for surveillance issued by the DGHS.

All the District Magistrates of Delhi, their counterparts District Deputy Commissioners of Police and all the authorities concerned have been directed to ensure strict implementation of these orders and take appropriate action against the offenders in case of any offences are committed such as not wearing a mask, not maintaining social distancing or spitting in public.
The move has come at the time when the national capital has started to register a slight improvement in the Coronavirus situation. On Monday, the capital registered 613 fresh coronavirus case, which is reportedly lowest since May 27 when 1,024 fresh cases were recorded. With this, the tally of cases has reached to 1,31,219 while the death count stands at 3,853 following 26 more fatalities.
