New Delhi: Days after unidentified people fired shot at JNU student Umar Khalid, the Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday detained two people on suspicion after they allegedly claimed responsibility of the same in a video on social media.


As per the sources, a video went viral where the two accused had claimed responsibility of the attack.

Umar Khalid was first pushed and then fired at by an unidentified gunman outside Delhi’s Constitution Club on August 14. Luckily, the bullet missed him and Khalid didn’t get injured.

Umar Khalid in his FIR claimed that the attacker tried to grab him by his neck and thereafter pointed out a pistol at him. The FIR further said that the attacker was overpowered by he managed to run away. The Cops later recovered the gun from outside the NITI Ayog office, not far from the spot where Umar was attacked.

The student had claimed that he had gone out for tea outside the constitution club and the attacker attacked him.

The Police are now interrogating the accused and are questioning him over the reason for the attack.
