NEW DELHI: The CBI has registered a case against AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan in connection with irregularities in the Waqf Board recruitment, an official said on Friday.
"We have registered a case against Amanatullah Khan and some unknown officials to probe their involvement in the alleged Waqf Board recruitment," Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokesperson Devpreet Singh told IANS.
The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Okhla MLA was booked along with unknown officials under charges of criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On October 7, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung dissolved the religious body and referred all Board matters involving alleged rule violations and corruption to the CBI for investigation.
Khan had resigned as the chairman of the body in September, following allegations that he had illegally appointed number of people to different posts in the board.
