New Delhi: Two metro trains collided at the Kalindi Kunj station on the Janakpuri-Botanical Garden line on Friday. No casualties have been reported as it was a trial run and the trains were empty . However, the trains were damaged in the incident.
According to a Delhi Metro official, one of the trains had crossed the falling mark by the time it was signaled to stop there. ( The falling mark is the mark where the metro stops). At the same time, another metro was coming from the opposite side and consequently, the two metros collided in a freak accident.
The Metro authority has found Rotem company’s negligence to be the cause of the incident. Hyundai Rotem is a company that supplies trains for the New Delhi metro. A detailed inquiry has been ordered to look into the lapse.
This incident has added to the concern over the safety of the commuters as very recently, a Metro train ran with doors open on the Jahangirpuri-Huda City centre line.
