COVID vaccination: India's vaccination drive is going at full speed in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. A record number of people were vaccinated on Monday. For the first time, more than 88 million people were vaccinated in a single day in the country. This information has been given by the Union Health Ministry.


Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, "Yesterday, India has set a record for administering the highest number of coronavirus vaccine doses in a single day with more than 88 lakh doses given. A total of 55 crores 47 lakh 30 thousand vaccine doses have been given so far."




Uttar Pradesh leads in the number of vaccines administered but is still behind others


According to health ministry data, Uttar Pradesh is leading in terms of the number of vaccinations. With 5.98 crore vaccines administered, UP tops among all states. UP is followed by Maharashtra, where 5 crore doses of vaccines have been given. Maharashtra is the only state so far where more than 1 crore people have been given both doses of the vaccine. In all other states, the number of fully vaccinated fall below the 1 crore mark.


UP state has the highest number of inoculations so far. But taking into consideration its population UP is lagging behind in vaccinating its people. Only 31 per cent of the population in UP has been given a single dose. West Bengal, Bihar, Punjab, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra have vaccinated more people than Uttar Pradesh. In this regard, Himachal Pradesh tops with its 77 per cent adult population already receiving at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Himachal Pradesh is followed by 66 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir, 64 per cent in Uttarakhand, 60 per cent in Gujarat, 55 per cent in Madhya Pradesh, 54 per cent in Karnataka, 54 per cent in Kerala, 52 per cent in Rajasthan, and 50 per cent in Chhattisgarh.
