New Delhi: India reported 2,259 fresh Coronavirus cases, and 2,614 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in an update on Friday, May 20. A decrease of 375 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload during the same period.
The country's active caseload currently stands at 15,044. The cumulative number of recoveries in India is 4,25,92,455. The recovery rate stands at 98.75 percent.
The death toll climbed to 5,24,323 with 20 fresh fatalities, which is 1.22 per cent the data updated at 8 am stated. The fatality rate stands at 1.22 per cent. The 20 new fatalities include 17 from Kerala and two from Uttar Pradesh and one from Delhi.

The total number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours is 4,51,179.
As many as 191.96 crore Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 0.50 and 0.53 per cent, respectively.
A total of 84.58 cr tests have been conducted so far. Covid-19 vaccination for the age group 12 to 14 years started on March 16.
A total of 5,24,323 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,47,856 from Maharashtra, 69,457 from Kerala, 40,106 from Karnataka, 38,025 from Tamil Nadu, 26,199 from Delhi, 23,516 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,203 from West Bengal.
According to a PTI report, the ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
"Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research," the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
