India on Wednesday recorded 9,629 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours which is around 3,000 cases more than what it witnessed on Tuesday. The current active caseload in the country stands at 61,013. 


On Tuesday, India logged 6,660 Covid infections in a day while active cases decreased to 63,380, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Tuesday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,369 with 24 deaths, which includes nine reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.


The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 3.52 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.42 per cent. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore.


The active cases now comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.67 per cent, the ministry said.


The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,43, 11,078 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.  According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.


India on Monday registered 7,178 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours registering a minor dip in cases for the second day in a row. The active cases now stand at 65,683, as per the latest data by the Union Health Ministry. The number of recoveries in the past 24 hours is 9,011 while the eight deaths were reconciled, as per the ministry's data. The total number of fatalities has now reached 3,31,345.  Active cases are at present 0.15 per cent of total cases while the recovery rate is at 98.67 per cent.


As per the ministry's data, the daily positivity rate is 9.16 per cent and the weekly positivity rate is at 5.41 per cent. The Health Ministry said that a total of 92.54 crore tests have been conducted so far among which 78,342 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
