New Delhi: Two people were arrested after a video of them brutally thrashing a handicapped man in Zewar area of Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida went viral on social media, ANI reported.
The incident took place on March 27. In the video, the accused Jugendra and his wife can be seen hitting the disabled man Gajendra, who happens to be their own relative, with sticks.
Reports said Jugendra had leased a school house to Gajendra, However, Gajendra failed to run the school as the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country.
This led to a quarrel between the two, leading to the incident. Jugendra also damaged Gajendra's scooter while beating him mercilessly, the video shows.
The video was also shared by Youth Congress president Srinivasa BV on Twitter. "There is a need to rethink at what point we have stood in this era of hatred. These pictures are embarrassing to humanity," Srinivasa BV wrote while posting the video.
Vishal Pandey, ADCP Greater Noida, said the couple has been arrested after the victim lodged a complaint with the police. A case has also been registered against the two accused.
"A specially-abled man was beaten by his relatives over renting a school house in Greater Noida. He had leased a school house from relatives. There was a conflict between them regarding this. Both accused have been arrested," ANI quoted Pandey as saying.
