India recorded 5,880 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of active cases in the country to 35,199 as per the data by the health ministry. The state with highest number of cases include Kerala (12,433), Mahrashtra (4,587), Delhi (2,460), Gujarat (2,013), and Tamil Nadu (1,900). Recovery Rate is currently at 98.73%. Daily positivity rate is 6.91%. 85,076 tests conducted in the last 24 hours


3,481 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the cumuative recoveries to 4,41,96,318. According to a press release, 220.66 cr Total Vaccine doses (95.21 cr Second Dose and 22.87 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. 205 doses administered in last 24 hours.


On Sunday, the country logged 5,357 cases of Covid-19 taking the number of active cases to 32,814 while the death toll climbed to 5,30,965 with 10 deaths. 3,726 people had recovered from the infection taking the aggregate to 4,41,92,837.


The cumulative tally of coronavirus infections in the country now stands at 4.47 crore (4,47,56,616).  


Nationwide Mock Drill


A 2-day nationwide mock drill to assess hospital preparedness will start today with both public and private facilities participating in it. Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya will visit the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jhajjar on Monday to assess the mock drill. He has ordered state health ministers to visit hospitals and oversee mock drills at a review meeting on April 7. 


During the meeting, states and union territories were informed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) is currently closely tracking a variant of interest (VOI), XBB.1.5 and that six other variants (BQ.1, BA.2.75, CH.1.1, XBB, XBF, and XBB.1.16) are being monitored, a health ministry statement had said.


Delhi Reports 699 Cases, Positivity Rate At 21.15 Per Cent 


On Sunday, the national capital recorded 699 fresh cases of Covid-19 with a positivity rate of 21.15 per cent, as per the data by the city government’s health department. The city’s Covid-19 death toll stood at 26,540 as per the bulletin with four deaths. The bulletin, however, stated that coronavirus was the primary cause of death in just one case. 


As per the bulletin, 3,305 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the city on Saturday.


Delhi has witnessed a spurt in the number of fresh Covid infections over the last few days amid a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in the country.


788 Covid-19 Cases In Maharashtra, One Fatality 


Maharashtra, on Sunday, reported 788 cases of coronavirus with one fatality which raised the tally of infections to 81,49,929 and death toll to 1,48,459. With 560 patients recovering from the infection in the last 24 hours, the count of recoveries has reached 79,96,883, leaving the state with 4,587 active cases, the official said.


According to the state health department bulletin, 207 cases were recorded in Mumbai on Saturday making it the fifth consecutive day that the city saw 200 plus infections.


The only fatality of the day was reported in Ratnagiri district under Kolhapur sector.
