Narsinghpur: Javed Khan, a coronavirus-infected NSA detainee, who had escaped from the Jabalpur Medical College Hospital was re-arrested by Narsinghpur police on Monday.


He was caught around 6.30 am at Madanpur checkpost where he was trying to steal a bike. The area comes under the Tendukheda police station of Narsihpur district in Madhya Pradesh.

District Superintendent of Police Gurkaran Singh had confirmed the arrest.

Reportedly, Javed had managed to get a ride in a truck from Jabalpur and got off outside the municipal limits. Then he tried to steal a bike, in an attempt to travel further. But the police caught him from the Madanpur checkpost.

Trainee DSP Ashish Jain informed that the arrest involved some tussle and police personnel who came in his contact have been put under quarantine as a precautionary measure. They will also be medically examined.

Earlier, Javed was detained under National Security Act for pelting stones at the medical professionals in Indore. After he tested positive for coronavirus, he was admitted to the corona care ward in Jabalpur hospital.

However, he somehow managed to escape because of which four policemen were suspended, and two police personnel were booked under the IPC and Disaster Management Act.
