Corona Cases Update: After witnessing a continuous decline in cases, India has witnessed a slight surge on Thursday. The country reported 22,431 fresh COVID-19 cases, 24,602 recoveries, and 318 deaths in the last 24 hours.

India's active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.72% which is the lowest since March 2020. India's active caseload stands at 2,44,198, lowest in 204 days.


The recovery rate is currently at 97.95% which is the highest since March 2020







Kerala


Kerala on Wednesday reported 12,616 fresh COVID-19 cases and 134 deaths, taking the infection caseload to 47,51,434 and fatalities to 25,811, informed the state health Ministry.

The number of people who recovered from the infection since Tuesday was 14,516, which brought the total recoveries to 46,02,600 and the active cases to 1,22,407, according to the press release.


As many as 98,782 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest number of cases with 1,932 followed by Thiruvananthapuram (1,703), Kozhikode (1,265), Thrissur (1,110) and Malappuram (931).

The State has been showing a decline in the daily fresh cases after crossing the 30,000-mark post-Onam festival in August.


Maharashtra


 Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 2,876 new coronavirus positive cases and 90 fatalities while 2,763 patients recovered, a state health department official said, according to a PTI report.

Maharashtra witnessed a marginal rise in the number of COVID-19 cases but the fatalities rose sharply compared to Tuesday when the state had logged 2,401 infections and 39 deaths.

With the new additions, the tally of infections in Maharashtra rose to 65,67,791, the death toll to 1,39,362 and the count of recoveries to 63,91,662, leaving the state with 33,181 active cases, the official said.

Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 97.32 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

With 1,50,584 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra went up to 5,96,19,637, the official said.

Across Maharashtra, six districts and two municipal corporations did not report any new COVID-19 case, the official said.

 For the first time after July 14, Mumbai on Wednesday logged more than 600 new COVID-19 cases a day ahead of the scheduled reopening of temples and other religious places in Maharashtra on the first day of the Navratri festival.

With 629 new cases and seven fatalities, Mumbai's tally of infections rose to 7,45,792 and the toll to 16,136 on Wednesday, a civic body official said.

This is only the first occasion that Mumbai saw over 600 fresh COVID-19 infections in a single day after July 14 when 635 cases and 10 fatalities were recorded.
