New Delhi: The dispute between Twitter and Congress has escalated as Youth Congress President Srinivas BV has changed his name on Twitter as Rahul Gandhi, in a protest against the locking of former party president's Twitter handle. Srinivas also put a picture of Rahul Gandhi as the profile photo. Priyanka Gandhi also put the same profile photo. Several other Congress leaders have also put up a picture of Rahul Gandhi along with his name in protest against Twitter's action.

Meanwhile, Congress UP General Secretary and Rahul Gandhi's sister Priyanka Gandhi questioned that is Twitter using Modi government's policy to lock the accounts of Congress leaders or it's is own policy? Why was the SC Commission account not locked when same picture was shared from its handle?, she asked.

Srinivas tweeted, "How many Twitter Accounts will you ban? Every worker will become the voice of Rahul Gandhi and ask you sharp questions. Let us together become a part of this people's movement. "

"Twitter, in the US, shuts down President Trump's account to 'stop the spread of hate'. In India, under the pressure of the government, Twitter has become the biggest voice of the opposition. @RahulGandhi And banned other accounts because they were raising their voice 'against hate-injustice'," he tweeted in Hindi.

Twitter's Response To The Controversy

Reacting to the controversy, Twitter said the accounts of several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, were locked because they earlier posted a picture that violated its rules and action was taken to protect the privacy of people.

The micro-blogging platforms took down the Twitter handles of Rahul and several Congress leaders for posting family pictures of the 9-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murderded in the national capital last week.

The official Twitter account of the Congress party has also been taken down. Twitter had also deleted Rahul Gandhi's post in which he shared a picture of him interacting with the parents of the victim.
