New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge attacked Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on unemployment dismissing the BJP’s claim of ‘Amrit Kaal’.
Gandhi said on Saturday that the union government is responsible for the “unemployment emergency” in the country, reported news agency PTI.
As per the PTI report, Gandhi also cited a report which claimed that over 25,000 have died by suicide between 2018 and 2020due ti debt and unemployment.
His comments were echoed by the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge who said that this is not the “Amrit Kaal” but the “Andh Kaal” (dark age) with a “blind King”.
Attacking the BJP that claims it to be India’s ‘Amrit Kaal’ that is the most auspicious time, Gandhi tweeted in Hindi with the hashtag ‘Kiske Achhe Din’.
“Unemployment increased suicides And what led to the rise in unemployment? The central government is responsible for this unemployment emergency,” Gandhi wrote.
Kharge on the other hand wrote a series of tweets saying, “24% increase in suicides due to unemployment. 84% families saw a decline in income. Yet, Modi and his ministers call these difficult times as 'Amrit Kaal'. This is India's 'Andh Kaal' with an 'Andha Raja' as PM.”
In another tweet, he wrote, “For the sake and welfare of Double A, 27 crore Indians have been pushed into poverty by Hum Do. This is the reality of 'Amrit Kaal'.”
During the Budget session of the parliament — the first part of which has ended recently — also, Congress tried to target BJP for inflation and unemployment.
