New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said China is preparing for war but the government trying to hide the fact, news agency PTI reported.

Addressing a press conference in Rajasthan on the occasion of the 100th day completion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said, “China is preparing for war, not for an incursion. See their pattern of weapons. They are preparing for war. Our government is not accepting it. Government of India is working on events, not on strategy.”

“China has taken our land. They are beating out soldiers. The threat of China is clear. And the government is hiding it, ignoring it. China is preparing for an offensive in Ladakh and Arunachal. And the government of India is sleeping,” the Congress leader added.

"Before the press conference, I talked to a Congress leader that nobody will ask me any questions about China. They will ask me about everything - Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot, election, but no question will be asked on China," Rahul Gandhi said before the China questions were asked to him.

It is to be noted that the Congress leader's statements on Friday come in the wake of recent clash between the Indian and Chinese army in Tawang sector.

On December 9, Indian Army soldiers and Chinese troops clashed in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh, in which Indian soldiers gave a befitting reply to the Chinese side sending them home.

The Congress has been demanding discussion in Parliament while the defence minister Rajnath Singh issued a statement and assured of border security.
