Chennai Power Cut On May 25: Residents in several parts of Chennai should prepare for a planned power shutdown on Sunday, May 25, as the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board carries out essential maintenance work aimed at improving service reliability during peak demand.

According to the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, the outage will last from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with early restoration possible if maintenance is completed ahead of schedule.

The planned shutdown will impact parts of Ambattur Industrial Estate, including:


Estate B Block


New and Old Tiny Sectors


1st Main Road, ATC Road


2nd Cross Street, 3rd Street Sector-II


Portions of 2nd Main Road and TH Road


Menambedu Road


Coacher Apartment and Coromandel Town


7th and 8th Streets


Sidco Industrial Estate North Phase


Cookson Road and 7th Street Sector 3


Aavin Road (partial)


Context: Series of Disruptions This Month


This latest announcement adds to a series of scheduled outages in Chennai throughout May. Earlier disruptions occurred on May 2, 8, 9, 15, 17, and May 19–23, as part of TANGEDCO’s ongoing maintenance drive across the city, as per a report Jagran.


Officials from the electricity board have reiterated their commitment to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring a prompt return of power supply. 


Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions to manage the temporary disruption.
