TANGEDCO has announced a scheduled power shutdown in select areas of Chennai on Saturday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM due to routine maintenance works. However, officials noted that power supply may be restored earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule.

Kottivakkam 33 KV Zone: Palkalai Nagar, Jaganathan Street, Venkateswara Nagar (1st to 21st Street), Kottivakkam Kuppam, Kuppam Road, AGS Colony (1st to 3rd Cross Street), and New Colony (1st to 4th Street).
Kadappery 110 KV Zone: Moulana Nagar, Thiruneermalai Road, Ranganathapuram, GST Road, Ramesh Nagar, RV Garden, Duraisamy Pillai Street, MR Theatre area, Mudichur Service Road, Tamil Market, Corporation Office, Judge Colony, Kamakoti & Sriram Nagar, MMR Street, Gandhi Road, and Valasaravakkam areas.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies with light rainfall in some parts of Chennai. Temperatures are expected to hover between 38–39°C (maximum) and 28–29°C (minimum).
Precautionary Measures During Power Cut:
To minimize inconvenience during the power outage, residents are advised to: Fully charge mobile phones, laptops, and emergency lighting devices in advance. Store an adequate amount of water if relying on electric pumps.Unplug sensitive appliances like TVs, refrigerators, and computers to prevent damage from voltage surges.
Avoid using elevators and high-power electrical devices during the outage. Keep flashlights or candles accessible in case of extended power loss. After restoration, turn on appliances gradually to avoid sudden power spikes.
Try to avoid opening refrigerators frequently, as it helps preserve the internal temperature and prevents spoilage of perishable items. Informing family members about the timing of the shutdown can prevent confusion and help them prepare as well. It’s also wise to check if any electronic devices are behaving abnormally or need resetting.
