Muktsar: Taking a jibe at his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the former is the first chief minister in world history who meets people in the bathroom.
“Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi in the interview says that I meet people 24 hours. I meet people in the drawing-room, hall, bathroom,” said Kejriwal.
“I think he is the first CM in the history of the world who meets people in the bathroom,” he added addressing a gathering in Punjab’s Muktsar, ANI reported.
Kejriwal’s remarks come as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had emerged as the second-largest party winning 20 seats in the 2017 Punjab Assembly polls, is leaving no stone unturned to seize power in the Congress-ruled state.
The AAP convener, who has been aggressively campaigning in Punjab in the run-up to the assembly elections, had earlier on Wednesday promised an international airport and the country’s biggest sports university in Jalandhar if the AAP comes to power in 2022.
The Delhi Chief Minister also reached out to the farmers during his public address in Jalandhar and lauded them for their “victory” against the Central government’s three farm laws.
In the 2017 elections, the Congress won an absolute majority in Punjab emerging victorious in 77 seats in the 117-member assembly.
The Congress, which was then led by former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, ousted the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance government after 10 years in Punjab.
The SAD and BJP bagged only 15 seats and 3 seats respectively in the 2017 polls.
