The Supreme Court on Friday pulled up a lawyer who appeared virtually during a hearing on the matter related to farmers' protest at the Shambhi border.
The matter was being heard by a bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan when a lawyer appeared virtually, reportedly sitting inside a car. Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta objected to this saying such practice needs to stop, reported Bar and Bench.
"This practice of appearing from the car needs to stop, I do not know him personally.. but just as a matter of...," Mehta said.
To this, Justice Surya Kant replied saying: "Yeh sab Chandigarh ke bigde vakeel hai!" (these are all unruly lawyers of Chandigarh.)
During the hearing on the matter, the apex court expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast-unto-death protest at Khanauri border for over 17 days.

He has been on the fast-unto-death at the Khanauri border since November 26 to press the Centre into accepting the agitating farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee of MSP on crops.
The Supreme Court bench directed the representatives of the Centre and Punjab government to immediately meet Dallewal provide him with medical help and persuade him to break his fast-unto-death protest saying his life was precious.
The bench asked SG Mehta and Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh to ensure no force was used against the farmer leader in persuading him to break his fast unless it was imperative to save his life.
"You both look into this issue immediately and ensure that it is resolved," the bench told Mehta and Singh while advising that Dallewal could be shifted to PGI Chandigarh or nearby Patiala city for urgent medical intervention if the need arises.
