New Delhi: Amid Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) crackdown on Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over alleged anomalies in the Delhi Excise Policy, the latter hit out at the Centre on Sunday saying that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is not against investigation but the probe agency should also look into why people are dying by consuming spurious liquor in 'dry' Gujarat, news agency PTI reported.

"We are not against investigation, but CBI should also probe why people dying by consuming spurious liquor in 'dry' Gujarat," PTI quoted Sisodia as saying.

The Delhi Deputy CM’s remarks come a day after Gujarat AAP chief Gopal Italia demanded a CBI probe into the recent hooch tragedy in the state which killed at least 42 people.

Speaking at a press conference in Surat, Italia, as quoted by The Indian Express, said, “BJP claims that this raid is not related to education but for liquor. We demand that CBI should also carry out raids to the houses of accused involved in the recent hooch tragedy in Gujarat wherein many people died. CBI should also carry out raids in Gujarat where annually liquor worth Rs. 20,000 crore are sold.”

It is to be noted that more than 40 people died due to the consumption of spurious liquor in Gujarat, a state where prohibition is in force. Police said that the bootleggers mixed water with methyl alcohol and sold it to people as country-made liquor.

Meanwhile, the CBI issue a look out circular against Sisodia and 12 others on Sunday.

This implies that Sisodia and the other defendants in the case are not permitted to leave the country. Furthermore, individuals may be imprisoned by officials if they allegedly break the stated requirements.

Taking a dig at the central government, Sisodia on his official Twitter handle wrote, "All your raids failed and you found nothing… now you have issued a lookout circular that Manish Sisodia can't be found."

“What is this gimmick Modi ji…I am roaming freely in Delhi. Can't you find me? Please tell me where to come?” he added.
