BJP MLA Rakesh Rathore allegedly beat up a toll plaza employee in Uttar Pradesh and incident happened on the Moradabad-Bareilly highway, at the Fatehganj (West) toll plaza.
The video clip, reportedly two days old, shows a man alleged to be the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator engaging in a quarrel with the toll booth staff and then beating up an employee.
Without paying the toll, the politician then speeds away with the cavalcade of vehicles accompanying him. The politician and his supporters are also shown vandalizing the barrier.
The victims have lodged a complaint with the police and cops in Bareilly said since there were two versions of the incident, they will go through the CCTV footage before taking action.
However, on Thursday, BJP MLA Rakesh Rathore denied he was the politician who beat up a toll plaza employee in the state.
The legislator from Sitapur said that he neither owns a Scorpio car as shown in a video, which has gone viral, nor he has been to New Delhi in the last six months.
"This is not me. The person shown in the video is Mahendra Yadav, a Samajwadi Party leader from Biswa. It is sad the media aired the video and the news without any verification," he said, reported IANS.
VIRAL VIDEO: SUV of an alleged Hindu Yuva Vahini activist knocks down a biker
Interestingly, recently, a video of an SUV mowing down a motorcycle in Uttar Pradesh has gone viral on social media sites.
According to passers-by heard in the video, the car which has an Uttar Pradesh number plate and a sticker of right-wing outfit 'Hindu Yuva Vahini' rammed a biker and dragged the bike for over 100 meters. The rider of the bike, however, is not seen in the video but was said to be lying at the red light where the alleged accident took place.
The driver of the vehicle wearing a white dotted shirt and a saffron cloth around his neck is seen checking the damage done to his vehicle. The man tramples the bike with his car and leaves the spot unbothered with the whole episode.
The car has a Noida registration number (UP 16BL 2333).
The video has gone viral and has close to 40,000 shares on Facebook.
The video holds importance as the man involved in the accident belongs to a Hindu hardliner group formed by CM Yogi Adityanath in 2002.
The controversial outfit was in the news recently for thrashing a couple of days ago on suspicion of 'love jihad'.
