Amid the ongoing row over 'cash for query' charges against TMC MP Mahua Moitra, complainant and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday alleged that attempts are being made to "influence" witness Darshan Hiranandani in the case. Referring to Moitra, he said 'Dubai Didi' is in touch with the businessman. He urged the Lok Sabha speaker to take action on the matter.

"According to the information, Darshan Hiranandani and Dubai Didi (MP Mahua Moitra) are in touch. An attempt is being made to influence the witness @loksabhaspeaker to take action," Dubey said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

In another post, Dubey compared Moitra with former Congress MP Raja Ram Pal and said that the former was poor while Moitra was "friends with the rich".

"There is a similarity between Mahua ji and Raja Ram Pal ji, who asked questions about money and was expelled from Parliament during the Congress rule in 2005. Pal ji was fighting against corruption of Reliance, hence he was expelled, Mahua ji Adani. Is this why you are fighting?" the BJP MP's post on X in Hindi read.

This comes as Lok Sabha's Ethics Committee is probing the matter with the first hearing done and complainants Nishikant Dubey and lawyer Jai Anand Dehadrai recording their statements before the chairman of the panel.

Mahua on Friday wrote a letter to the ethics panel seeking time to appear after November 5, after the panel sought her presence in the matter on October 31. The opposition has meanwhile said that Mahua was being troubled for asking questions against Adani.
