New Delhi: Three Indian-American students were killed and two others injured when their speeding vehicle overturned at Alpharetta in the US state of Georgia. The five victims, aged 18, included two women. They comprised high school as well as college students, a report in India Today said.
According to Alpharetta Police, they are investigating the accident but believe speeding to have been the primary factor. The deceased students were identified as Aryan Joshi, a senior at Alpharetta High School, and Sriya Avasarala and Anvi Sharma, both first-year students at the University of Georgia.
The injured students are Rithwak Somepalli, a Georgia State University student and the driver of the Honda Accord, and Mohammed Liyakath, a senior at Alpharetta High School.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it overturning and landing upside down in a tree line. Aryan Joshi and Sriya Avasarala were found dead at the scene, while Anvi Sharma succumbed to her injuries at North Fulton Hospital.
According to Instagram posts from the organisations, Sriya Avasarala was a member of the UGA Shikaari dance team, and Anvi Sharma sang with the UGA Kalakaar a cappella group, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, cited in the India Today report.

Aryan Joshi was a member of the cricket team at Alpharetta High School. The accident occurred on May 14 on Westside Parkway, just north of Maxwell Road in Alpharetta, Georgia.
