SITAPUR (UP): Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj on Wednesday visited rape case accused MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar at UP's Sitapur Jail.

After the meeting, Sakshi Maharaj said that he came to thank Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

"He has been lodged here for a long time, I came to meet him, to thank him after the elections" the BJP MP said.

In UP's Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj (BJP) had defeated Arun Shanker Shukla (SP) by 4,00,956 votes in the Lok Sabha election 2019.

In the Unnao rape, accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar had pleaded that he's innocent and had been framed. The mother of a teenaged girl belonging to the Makhi police station area had alleged that Sengar raped her daughter at his residence in 2017.

Sengar, a four-time MLA who represents Bangermau in the UP Assembly, was arrested on April 13 last year. The case had come to light after the victim allegedly attempted self-immolation outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence.
