Budget Session 2023: Ahead of the second phase of the Parliament Budget session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting top ministers to discuss Parliamentary strategy.  The second phase of the Budget session will commence today amidst a continuing political dispute between the opposition parties and the BJP-led Centre on various issues.






In the meantime, a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) was convened, with CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition (Rajya Sabha) Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Congress Party in Lok Sabha Adhir Chowdhury, and party MPs in attendance.


The Congress party has resolved to bring up the issue of the "misuse" of investigative agencies and the deployment of the personal staff of Rajya Sabha Chairman in Rajya Sabha committees.


The CPP meeting was attended by a total of 16 parties, including the Dravida Muuntera Kazhagam, Janata Dal (United), Aam Aadmi Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Kerala Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal, Nationalist Congress Party, National Conference, Communist Party of India, Indian Union Muslim League, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Revolutionary Socialist Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Several leaders, including from the AAP and the BRS, have given adjournment notices in both Houses to discuss the alleged misuse of probe agencies.


During the first phase of the session, opposition leaders held demonstrations over the Adani controversy and other topics. Currently, the parties are gearing up to challenge the government on a variety of issues during the second phase of the session.
