BSF Opens Fire At Pakistani Drone Spotted Near International Border In J&K, Search Underway

LeT has set up terror modules for the purpose of collecting and transporting weapons by drones to terrorists in border areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Rajouri districts.

New Delhi: The Border Security Force opened fire at a Pakistani drone which was spotted near the International Border in the Kanachak sector of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior official said on Saturday, according to a PTI report. He said that red blinking light was observed late at night on Friday, after which the BSF fired at it. Thereafter a search operation was launched, which is still underway.

Earlier, the police busted three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) modules which resulted in the arrest of seven of its members and the seizure of hidden arms, ammunition, and explosive material reportedly dropped by 20 drone sorties from Pakistan, PTI reported.

Last week, a Pakistani drone was spotted by villagers in Mangu Chak village along the Indo-Pakistan international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The drone stayed in the air for around fifteen minutes before turning around and heading back toward Pakistan. It was observed at a height of 300 metres, the PTI report stated.

After receiving the reports, in the region from residents of Samba's Mangu Chak hamlet, security personnel used a drone to conduct a search operation.
