An intruder was shot down by Border Security Force troops after he tried entering Indian territory near Simbal Sakol village in Punjab’s Pathankot district on Sunday, as reported by news agency ANI. Despite repeated warnings, the intruder persisted in advancing towards the border fencing, prompting the BSF to take action, the BSF, Punjab Frontier said in a statement. Around 12:30 am BSF personnel detected suspicious movement near the bordering Simbal Sakol village in the Pathankot District. 






"On 14th Aug' 2023, at about 12:30 AM, Border Security Force (BSF) troops observed suspicious movement of a Pakistani miscreant/intruder ahead of Border fencing, in the area falling near the bordering Simbal Sakol village, under Pathankot district. Troops challenged the miscreant/intruder but he did not stop and continued moving ahead towards border fencing. Sensing imminent threat and to stop further misadventure, BSF troops fired upon the miscreant in self-defence neutralizing him on the spot while intruder was  trying to negotiate the Border Fencing," BSF PRO, Punjab Frontier said, as quoted by ANI.






In another incident, a BSF jawan was killed and 13 others were injured after a truck they were travelling in overturned in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on Saturday, news agency PTI reported. In a separate incident, seven people were killed after a head-on collision between a bus and a private vehicle in Didwana city. The BSF truck accident took place under Shahgarh police station area of the district. The deceased has been identified as SK Dubey.


The injured were rushed to Jaisalmer where they are undergoing treatment at Jawahar hospital, police said. The family of the deceased have been informed and a post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival, police added.
