New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an army helicopter force-landed near Patnitop in Jammu on Tuesday, leaving both the pilots critically injured and later succumbing to the injuries. 


The incident came to the notice when some locals spotted the helicopter crashing near Patnitop area of Udhampur. Jammu and Kashmir police said, "An Army Aviation Helicopter has force-landed near Patnitop. Locals reported the helicopter going down near Patnitop area of Udhampur. We have rushed the team to the area. The two pilots are injured and are being evacuated. Further details are being ascertained." 


According to early reports, the two pilots who were evacuated, succumbed to their injuries. 


Expressing condolences over the unfortunate demise of the two pilots, Northern Command, Indian Army in a statement said, "GOC-in-C, Northern Command, Lt Gen YK Joshi and all ranks salute the bravehearts Major Rohit Kumar & Major Anuj Rajput who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on Sept 21 at Patnitop & offer deepest condolences to their families."
