New Delhi: A polygraph test will be conducted on Aftab Amin Poonawala before the narco test. A Delhi court allowed last week to conduct narco analysis test on Aftab, who killed Shraddha Walkar on May 18 and chopped her body to 35 pieces. As per procedure, a polygraph test is conducted before proceeding for the narco test.

The court is yet to give permission to conduct a polygraph test on Aftab. All the tests will be done within 10 days after the court allows the test.

As for the narco test, sodium pentothal, also called 'truth serum', is injected into a person. This lowers a person's self-consciousness, thereby allowing them to speak without inhibition. The person is said to be in a ‘hypnotic state’ after this drug administration

A team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) will record the entire narco test which will be interpreted later. Apart from the FSL team, psychiatrists, investigating officers and doctors are likely to be present when the narco test of Aftab is conducted.

Earlier, a Delhi court on Friday ordered the city police to complete Aftab Amin Poonawala's narco analysis test in connection with the Mehrauli murder within five days and made it clear that they cannot use any third-degree measures against him, news agency PTI reported.

Metropolitan Magistrate Vijayshree Rathore has earlier ordered the Rohini Forensic Science Laboratory to allow the investigating officer (IO) to conduct the accused's narco test within five days.

"The IO is further directed not to use any third-degree measures. MLC be prepared as per rules," the judge said in the order, PTI reported. "The accused is willing for recording his proceedings through his lawyer engaged on his behalf. On questioning the accused further submits that he does not want to engage any private counsel on his behalf," the judge noted in the order.

A team of police has reached Mumbai to inquire about Aftab at the 5-star hotel where he did internship as a chef.
