Omicron variant has entered India, the total tally of cases reaches four after another man tests positive in Maharashtra's Kalyan-Dombivli. 


According to the State Health Department, the 33-year-old man from Kalyan Dombivli municipal area near Mumbai had arrived at the Delhi airport from South Africa via Dubai before flying to Mumbai.


The man had arrived in Delhi on November 24 via Cape Town and had given his samples for COVID-19 testing at the Delhi airport. He had then taken a flight to Mumbai, official sources close to news agency PTI said in Delhi.


Cyclonic storm “Jawad”, which was expected to make landfall on Saturday noon, is likely to weaken into a deep depression before making landfall near Puri in Odisha on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department informed.


In other news, Security has been tightened in Mathura to avoid any untoward incident ahead of December 6, the date on which the Babri mosque was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992, officials said on Saturday. 


In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the police have brutally lathi-charged the students protesting for teacher recruitment. In the evening, when these students were taking out demonstrations and candle marches, the police ran and beat them. Now politics has intensified on this.
