5 Killed, 4 Injured As Portion Of Old Building Collapses Near Banke Bihari Temple In Vrindavan

A portion of an old building collapsed near Banke Bihari Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan on Tuesday. "An unfortunate incident happened this evening after a roof and wall of a building collapsed near Banke Bihari Temple, in which five people were killed and four injured," says Mathura DM Pulkit Khare.

At least 15 people, including five women and three children, were injured following a shootout in Nakashipara in West Bengal's Nadia district, said officials on Tuesday, as reported by news agency IANS.


The incident happened late Monday night. The injured persons, currently under treatment at a local hospital, reportedly belonged to two families with political affiliations to the Congress. Breaking News LIVE: 12 Killed, 60 Injured After Explosion At Petrol Station In Russia

At least 12 people, including two children, have been killed while 60 others were reportedly injured in an explosion at a petrol station in Dagestan in southern Russia, as reported by the news agency PTI. The blast occurred in the regional capital Makhachkala, which sits on the coast of the Caspian Sea, at 21:40 local time on Monday, the BBC reported.


According to an unconfirmed Russian report quoting doctors, the death toll could be as high as 25. The cause of the explosion which started the fire is not yet clear.


Pictures showed a large fire lighting up the night sky and a number of fire engines at the scene.

PM Modi To Deliver 10th Consecutive Independence Day Address


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver on Tuesday his 10th consecutive Independence Day address - also his last before 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He will address the nation at 7:30 am after hoisting the national flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort. 


The prime minister may choose to chart the country's journey in various sectors since 2014 and outline his vision for the years ahead, something he has done in previous addresses as well.


Since his first Independence Day speech in 2014, when he had announced a host of new programmes such as Swachh Bharat and Jan Dhan accounts, Modi has made key announcements on the milestone day and sought to engage with citizens on a range of issues, including social ills like crimes against women and social conflicts. 


Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory For Independence Day 


 The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the city on Tuesday, when Independence Day will be celebrated.  According to the advisory, traffic for the general public around Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on August 15, will remain closed from 4 am to 10 am.


Eight road stretches -- Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and its link road to Netaji Subhash Marg, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT and Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover -- will remain closed for general traffic on Tuesday, the advisory said.


Sharad Pawar On Two-Day Aurangabad Visit From Today


Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar will be on a two-day visit to central Maharashtra's Aurangabad from Tuesday during which he will attend condolence meetings organised for late Marathi poet and lyricist Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor and educationist Prataprao Borade.


According to a release issued by the party's local office on Monday, Pawar will reach Aurangabad by a helicopter from his hometown Baramati in Pune district. In the evening on Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha member will attend a condolence meeting for Mahanor who died in a Pune hospital on August 3, said the release.


On Wednesday, Pawar will go to Palaskheda, the native village of the noted poet and lyricist, popularly known as Na Dho Mahanor, it said.
