New Delhi: Those who are looking to book a slot for the Covid vaccination can also consider doing it via WhatsApp. As per the latest announcement, the Ministry of Health said the MyGov Corona HelpDesk on WhatsApp now allows users to locate their nearest vaccination center and book their vaccine appointment.
"Paving a new era of citizen convenience. Now, book COVID-19 vaccine slots easily on your phone within minutes," tweeted health minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday.
Will Cathcart, Chief Executive Officer, Whatsapp Inc also informed about the partnership with the Ministry of Health and @mygovindia to enable people to make their vaccine appointments via WhatsApp.

"Send 'Book Slot' to MyGovIndia Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp. Verify OTP. Follow the steps," the health minister wrote along with the link.
After following the above steps, relevant details can be extracted from the government portal CoWIN that links every vaccine dose to its recipient.

Earlier the government introduced the facility of downloading vaccination certificates via WhatsApp. This came in handy for those trying to obtain proof of vaccination with the CoWIN platform reporting glitches on certain occasions. With concerns of Covid third wave, vaccine certificates have assumed significance as it is being sought for interstate travel, among other things.
