The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) passed a resolution on Wednesday applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what they termed the "historic and unprecedented" success of the G20 Summit. They expressed that India's presidency of the G20 would forever be celebrated as "People's G20". PM Modi presided over the Central Election Committee meeting earlier in the day at the BJP headquarters in Delhi. The CEC discussed issues concerning the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. At the meeting, BJP chief JP Nadda greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In their resolution, the BJP parliamentary board expressed "great pride in the impeccable leadership and unwavering commitment" displayed by PM Modi during the summit.
The BJP noted that the G20 Delhi summit holds a momentous place in India's diplomatic history and represents a transformative moment in how India is perceived and engaged with on the global stage.
The resolution read, "As representatives of the people, we stand resolute in our belief that under PM Modi's leadership, India will persistently chart a course marked by growth, cooperation, and global leadership, crafting a legacy that future generations will look upon with hope and positivity."
The BJP emphasised that India's G20 presidency would always be celebrated as "People's G20" – a genuinely people-driven endeavor and a testament to India's enduring spirit.
This initiative saw more than 60 cities hosting 200 meetings, with a staggering participation of 1.5 crore people, ensuring that the voices of "our people reverberated in these pivotal discussions, infusing them with grassroots perspectives and aspirations."
The G20 Summit convened leaders from around the world to discuss a wide range of issues, spanning economics, geopolitics, and technology.
The BJP resolution commended PM Modi for his efforts in creating an extensive and visionary G20 New Delhi Declaration, which is set to guide nations in shaping their policies.
The BJP resolution also praised Modi for presenting a "human-centric" model of development that goes beyond the conventional GDP-focused growth trajectory of previous years. This model emphasizes sustainability, inclusivity, and shared prosperity, resonating deeply among participating nations.
India's championing of paradigms like Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Mission LIFE, a global mass movement for environmental conservation, was also recognised.
The resolution highlighted that the 2023 summit would be remembered as the one in which the African Union was granted full G20 membership, aligning with PM Modi's vision to ensure strong representation from the Global South in international bodies.
The BJP resolution also celebrated India's leadership in the Global Biofuels Alliance, furthering sustainability efforts.
They acknowledged the multitude of bilateral meetings led by the prime minister, which strengthened existing relations and opened doors to new avenues of collaboration and commerce.
The birth of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor at the G20 Summit was termed a "watershed moment" for global prosperity, uniting nations to improve people's lives. In conclusion, the BJP parliamentary board stated, "The success of the G20 summit has filled the heart of every Indian with a profound sense of pride."
