Amid the ongoing speculation over who would replace the current national president of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jagat Prakash Nadda, it is being said that the saffron party will likely get a new working president by the end of August, News 18 reported.
As Nadda's tenure as the BJP national president is set to end in June 2024, a new president will have to be chosen to take his place. But since Nadda has been given charge of the Union Health Ministry in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government and the election to choose a new BJP chief is unlikely to be held before January 2025, the party will probably go in for a working president to share the work load with Nadda.
Despite his tenure ending a month ago, Nadda was asked to remain at the saffron party's helm until the new chief was elected. The resolution to extend the Union Minister's tenure was passed during the BJP National Executive meeting, which was held last year.

PM Modi had held a meeting on Wednesday at the Parliament complex with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and BJP General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh, which went on for around two hours.
After Santosh and Nadda left, PM Modi and Amit Shah had a one-on-one meeting. As per the report, the topic at hand during this meeting was choosing the next BJP working president.
The BJP has refrained from making any official announcement about the probable names on the list for the next BJP chief.
On Thursday, BJP held another meeting of all its General Secretaries (Organisation) from across states. This two-day meeting is reportedly the final deliberation about the BJP’s performance in Lok Sabha election 2024.
Given the importance of General Secretaries (Organisation) in BJP, discussion on the party's next working president cannot be ruled out, News 18 reported citing sources.
As stated in the report, Nadda will remain available for advisory roles during the transition period to the working president and later to a full-time president.
Meanwhile, the saffron party on Tuesday, appointed Journalist and pollster Pradeep Bhandari as its national spokesperson. He was appointed by BJP chief JP Nadda.
Following this, Bhandari thanked PM Modi in a post on X saying, "I thank Honorable PM Narendra Modi ji for giving me a chance to serve the country, and contribute in his mission of Viksit Bharat 2047. I thank party president JP Nadda ji, Home Minister Amit Shah ji, and National Organisation Secretary for giving me the chance to serve the party."
