Bihar Weather Update: The cold wave that has the North, Central, and Northeast India is intensifying in Bihar. The snowfall in the mountainous regions in the north is having an impact on the state. Due to this, the winter cold has increased in many districts of Bihar over the past three days. The westerly wind has added to the troubles of the people. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 12 districts of the state for Saturday.


Dense Fog In Several Districts


The India Meteorological Department [IMD] has forecast dense fog in Saharsa, Supaul, Katihar, East and West Champaran, Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj, Saran, Gopalganj, Madhepura, and Siwan districts today. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of Coldwave in 12 districts.


Banka District Records Lowest Temperature


According to the IMD, Banka district recorded the lowest temperature in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 5.4 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in Patna was recorded below 10 degrees Celsius. Kishanganj recorded the highest temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.


Apart from this, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6°C in Arwal, 6.3°C in Jamui, 6.4°C in Sasaram, 6.8°C in Buxar, 7°C in Samastipur, 7.6°C in Chapra, 7.7°C in Sheikhpura, 8°C in Darbhanga, 8.2°C in Aurangabad, 8.3°C in Vaishali, 8.7°C in Gaya, 9.1°C in Patna and 9.3°C in Purnea.


The temperature has seen drastic drops in the Kosi-Seemanchal areas of Bihar during the day and night. The icy wind is making its presence felt with the biting cold. Bonfires have become the only hope for many to keep warm. Due to the cold, people have been advised to stay safe indoors and venture out only when needed.


Air Pollution Plaguing Districts


With the increase in the cold in many districts of Bihar, the air has also become more polluted as the particulate matter hung in the air. Patna's air was recorded as the worst on Friday. Patna's AQI was 297, Hajipur's AQI was 292, Araria AQI was 242, Sasaram AQI was 235, Muzaffarpur AQI was 229, Nalanda AQI was 222 and Bhagalpur's AQI was 220.
