New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will resign from the top post after breaking ties with the BJP alliance. Sources on Tuesday said that CM Nitish decided on parting ways with the ruling alliance involving BJP at the meeting with JDU leaders today. 






This update comes after it was speculated that the Chief Minister may expel the BJP leaders from his cabinet or BJP leaders may resign en mass to prevent that scenario.

Parallel Meetings In Bihar Amid Tense Political Scenario, 'BJP Always Insulted Us,' Says CM Nitish


In the JD(U) meeting today, all MLAs and MPs of the party supported CM Nitish Kumar's decision and said that they are with him. They said that they will always be with him, whatever he may decide, news agency ANI reported sources as saying.


Reportedly, CM Nitish Kumar told them that the BJP has been disrespecting their party.


Many JD(U) MLAs and MLCs told the Chief Minister in the meeting that their present alliance is trying to weaken them since 2020. Without naming Chirag Paswan, they said he was one such example; also said they if they're not alert now, it won't be good for the party, ANI reported sources as saying.



The meeting of JD(U) MPs and MLAs took place at the Chief Minister’s official residence.


Meanwhile, the meeting of the RJD legislators, convened by party leader Tejashwi Yadav, was held at his mother Rabri Devi’s Circular Road bungalow, a stone’s throw from the CM’s Anney Marg residence, news agency PTI reported.


According to sources cited by ANI, RJD MLAs, MLCs, and Rajya Sabha MP authorised party leader Tejashwi Yadav to take a decision and said that they are with him. Congress and Left parties MLAs have already said that they are with Tejashwi.


"Lalu Prasad Yadav is also closely watching every movement but everything is being done by Tejashwi Yadav": RJD sources told ANI.


The BJP also held a meeting at Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishor Prasad’s residence and among those present there include the party’s state unit president Sanjay Jaiswal.

CM Nitish Kumar To Meet Bihar Governor


CM Nitish Kumar sought an appointment with Governor Phagu Chauhan at 4 pm as parallel meetings of the JD(U) and opposition RJD were underway amid speculations of a major political upheaval in the state.


Nitish Kumar will meet Governor Phagu Chauhan today at Raj Bhavan at 4 pm, ANI reported.


Currently, BJP holds 77 seats in the Bihar Assembly. JD(U) holds 45, the Congress 19, the Left led by CPIML(L) has 16, and the RJD 79. 


The political scenario pertaining to the Bihar government is expected to become clear today.
