A fire broke out in one of the air-conditioned coach of the Mumbai LTT Special Fare Holi Special train near Karisath station on late Tuesday night. The Holi special train was travelling from Danapur to Mumbai when the incident occurred at a short distance from Arrah Junction. The CPRO of the East Central Railways stated that the fire has now been brought under control and no injuries have been reported.
IRCTC Announced 540 Additional Trains On Holi
In view of the surge in number of passengers due to Holi, the Indian Railways had announced to run around 540 additional trains to accomodate the increased demand.
These trains connected major cities including Mumbai, Patna, Prayagraj, Pune, Ambala,Katra, and Varanasi. As compared to last year, this year saw an addition of 219 extra train services to ensure passengers reach their respective destinations conveniently.
To ensure the safety of the passengers, additional Railway Protection Force personnel were also deployed at key stations. Officers were also directed to remain on standby to facilitate uninterrupted operations of trains, the Economic Times reported.
Fire Erupts In Godan Express
In another similar incident, a fire broke out in a seating-cum-luggage coach of the Mumbai-Gorakhpur Godan Express near Nashik Road station on March 22.
As per Railway officials, the fire erupted when the train was on its way to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh from Mumbai. As the fire broke out, some of the passengers jumped out of the train in panic when it stopped.
Nashik Road Deputy Station Master Pritesh Dubey informed the fire brigade about the fire. Until the arrival of the brigade, the railway personnel tried to douse the flames with foam. However, due to high tension power supply nearby, the officials could not use water to douse the fire, NDTV reported citing officials.
