Bihar Elections 2020: The politically charged state of Bihar is witnessing development in political equations ahead of the crucial assembly polls which is set to take place next month. Amid the ongoing political stir, all eyes are on former DGP of Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey, who met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday.

The meeting between Pandey and Kumar comes days after the former voluntarily resigned as Bihar police chief, fueling the speculations about him joining Janata Dal United soon and contest the upcoming polls.  As per reports, Pandey may contest polls from his hometown Buxar.

While responding to the questions of media over the purpose of his meeting he said he came to thank CM Nitish Kumar for giving him absolute freedom to carry out his duties as DGP.  When asked about his plan to take a political plunge, he said he has not yet taken any decision on contesting polls.

“ I came here to meet CM Nitish Kumar and to thank him as he gave me absolute freedom to serve my duties as DGP. I have yet not taken any decision on contesting polls,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Pandey hogged the limelight as Bihar DGP for his prompt action in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. He also gave several statements condemning the actions of Mumbai police on quarantining Bihar IPS officer who went to Mumbai to collect information on the case.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has criticized JDU and BJP for playing politics on the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput case. He said, “Right from the beginning, BJP is playing politics over Sushant Singh Rajput's death. No one knows what ED and CBI has found so far. The issue is being diverted to the NCB drug probe now involving all actresses.”

“Bihar DGP who pushed for the CBI probe in Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case is being made a candidate for upcoming elections by the ruling party in the state. We are hearing NCB officials probing drug issue are very close to BJP and PM Modi,” Adhir Ranjan said.
