Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav trained guns on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday over the incidents of collapsing bridges in the state. On Thursday, another instance of bridge collapse came to the fore making it the 10th such instance in a forthnight, an official said. 


The latest incident was reported from Saran where two more bridge collapsed in the last 24 hours, said District Magistrate Aman Samir, reported news agency PTI. No casualty was reported after the structure, built 15 years ago by local authorities, crumbled this morning, the DM said. 


The small bridge over the Gandaki river was situated in the Baneyapur block and used to connect several villages in Saran with the neighbouring Siwan district.


The exact cause of the bridge collapse is yet to be ascertained but desilting work was recently undertaken," the district magistrate told the news agency.


RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took to social media platform X over the issue and slammed CM Nitish Kumar and PM Modi. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are completely silent and speechless on these achievements. They are thinking how to convert this auspicious corruption into Jungle Raj," said the former Deputy Chief Minister. 






A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a structural audit of all bridges in the state following reports of collapse of the bridges. 


The plea seeks direction to Bihar government to conduct highest level structural audit of all existing bridges and under construction bridges and to demolish week structure. 


Altogether 10 bridges have collapsed in the past 16 days in Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran and Kishanganj districts.
