New Delhi: The District Health Officer of Bengaluru Urban has served a notice to Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Clinic in Rajajinagar in connection with the death of Kannada television actress Chethana Raj after a fat removal surgery. “Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre had license only to run a polyclinic and dispensary not for procedure they did (on Chethana Raj). They need to submit a written explanation of this incident. If they don't respond, necessary action will be taken,” said the District Health Officer of Bengaluru Urban, ANI reported.
Earlier on Monday, the 22-year-old actress died after undergoing ‘fat-free’ cosmetic surgery at Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Clinic.
The actress, who developed complications as fluid began to accumulate in her lungs, breathed her last despite attempts to save her.
The deceased, a resident of Chikkabanawara, acted in television serials such as ‘Geetha’ and ‘Doresani’.
The police have registered a case of suspicious death on a complaint by the victim’s father, who has accused the doctors of negligence.
He told the police in his complaint that the clinic did not take permission from the parents before the surgery and her death was due to negligence.
The victim’s father has demanded legal action against Dr Sahebgowda Shetty, who owns the clinic.
The police said things went wrong during operation after anesthesia while undergoing the ‘fat-free surgery’ in the hospital, PTI reported.
Anesthetist Dr Melvin rushed her to the Kaade Hospital as the actress suffered a cardiac arrest.
Dr Melvin rushed her to the hospital and ‘threatened’ everyone to treat her the way he was directing, as per a lodged by Dr Sandeep V, the ICU intensivist at the Kaade Hospital, the news agency reported.
Suspecting that she was brought dead, he stated there was no pulse on the victim and tried CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for 45 minutes to revive her but there was no response.
