A clash over setting up a shop on a pavement in Khade Bazaar’s Khanjar Galli escalated into violence, resulting in a trader’s nose being severed in a brutal attack on Saturday.

The victim, Sufiyan Pathan (42), was attempting to establish his shop when an argument erupted with another trader, identified as Ayan Desai, reported NDTV. The altercation escalated rapidly, leading Desai to pull out a knife and chop off Sufiyan’s nose.

During the scuffle, another individual, Sameer Pathan, also sustained injuries. Sufiyan is currently undergoing treatment at BIMS Hospital, Belagavi.

The Market Police Station has registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused, Ayan Desai, who is currently absconding. Authorities are investigating the incident further.

In another act of brutality last year, a middle-aged man severed an Anganwadi worker's nose in Karnataka's Belagavi district following a dispute over plucked flowers. The attack occurred Tuesday in Basurte village when accused Kalyani More allegedly flew into a rage after the victim Sugandha More's (50) children picked flowers from his garden.

Parallel Case of Domestic Violence

The incident follows a similar act of cruelty in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi, where Rahul Kumar (32) mutilated his wife Anita's (28) nose for insisting on visiting her brother during Raksha Bandhan. Police reports indicate the domestic dispute turned violent when the husband attacked his wife with a sharp weapon. Later, she took to social media to demand justice and asserted that she does not want to live with her husband anymore.

In another incident in Uttar Pradesh, a man chopped off the nose of his wife over a domestic dispute after she refused to permit him to drink alcohol. The incident took place in Bahadurpur village.

Immediately after the incident, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was stated as stable. However, the police registered a FIR against the husband.
