“The Nirmohi Akhara has no regrets over the Supreme Court saying that it is not a 'shebait' of deity Ram Lalla,” a member of the outfit said after the Ayodhya verdict on Saturday.
The court on Saturday, directed the Centre to frame scheme within three months and set up a trust for construction of a temple, while ordering allotment of an alternative land to the Muslims.
It said that the possession of the disputed 2.77 acre land rights will handed over to the deity Ram Lalla, who is one of the three litigants in the case. The possession however will remain with a central government receiver.
"We have no regrets on this because we were batting for Ram Lalla. The court has accepted Ram Lalla's side and with this, our motive was fufilled," Nirmohi Akhara member Mahant Dharmdas told news agency PTI.
The bench, also comprising Justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer, directed the Centre to set up a trust in three months to formulate scheme for construction of Ram temple at the site where Babri mosque was demolished in 1992. It also asked the Centre to grant representation in the trust to Nirmohi Akhara if deemed fit by the government.
